The Great Uniter-Using the Race card

Yesterday, I was appalled when I heard President Obama speak out on the unfortunate arrest of Mr. Obama's friend. First, why is the President of the United States of America commenting on a local situation? The country has enough issues for him to deal with. Leave it to the locals to resolve. It almost seemed set-up when he called on a reporter who conveniently asked about Professor Gate's arrest. It appeared that he came alive when asked, unlike his lackluster speech on healthcare. Why would the President say that he didn't know the facts, however, comment that the Cambridge, Mass. Police Department acted "stupidly." That doesn't sound very Presidential? The law enforcement officers put their lives on the line everyday for people they don't even know. Sgt. Crowley did everything correctly. Mr Gates should be satisfied that the police responded quickly to his residence which is owned by Harvard University. I am not saying that there isn't racial profiling in America. It is all over the world. What I am saying is the President of the United States should not politicize race or racial tensions. Reverend Al Sharpton and Reverend Jesse Jackson do not need the help. However, this does take attention off of the failing stimulus, employment and healthcare bill being delayed. Say "no" to Socialism.

America's Healthcare Debacle

Why are the Democrats attempting to rush this healthcare bill through? I think our President knows if it is delayed, it will be defeated. First, it isn't completely written, TBD isn't a good start in getting this positive support. Secondly, America cannot afford this ambitious restructuring of America's healthcare, also known as 20% of our economy! Our healthcare system has many issues, however, it is the best healthcare system in the world. Where would the Brits, Canadians and Saudi royalty go for healthcare? I read that that the Government would have to employ 100,000 new feds. I sit in DC traffic already, this would be unbearable. There are many reforms available to our lawmakers to fix the healthcare issues. Tort reform and stopping Medicare and Medicaid fraud and waste has been estimated be a half a trillion dollars. Medical professionals practice defensive medicine and some abuse the system. I don't believe the President when he said there are 46 million citizens without healthcare. Approximately 12 million are illegal aliens and millions are eligible for healthcare and choose not to purchase it. A lot of them earn $80,000 or more a year. I didn't have insurance when I was young, I didn't need it. Also, healthy private competition would reduce overall cost of insurance. I don't think the Government should be competing against private industry. Over the August recess, contact your Senate and Congressional members and voice your opinion on this very important issue. It could the most important bill debated this decade. Say "no" to Socialism.
